BLS Post-Baccalaureate Certificates

Saint Louis University’s Biomedical Laboratory Science post-baccalaureate certificates, offered at the Doisy College of Health Sciences, allow you to work in the laboratory sciences even if you have a degree in a different area of study.


SLU’s Department of Biomedical Laboratory Science offers students who already obtained an undergraduate degree in an alternate field, and are in pursuit of a career change, a certificate to become a medical laboratory professional.

 The certificate takes between 12 to 18 months to complete and offers the following three track options:

Admission Requirements

Admission criteria include a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale, with a minimum of 2.5 GPA in science and math. Applicants must also have a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university, with a major in biological science or chemistry, or baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university with a combination of 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of biology, chemistry and/or medical sciences.

Application Deadlines

For priority enrollment in courses, applications should be complete by June 1 for a fall start date and Dec. 1 for a spring start date.
